Pieta
The "Pieta" is a sculpture created by Michelangelo. It was Michelangelo's first of a number of similarly themed works. The statue was made for the French cardinal Jean de Billheres' funeral monument. However, it was moved to the first chapel in the 18th century. This famous sculpture depicts the body of Jesus on his mother Mary's lap after the Crucifixion. David
Michelangelo was a sculptor and painter during the Renaissance. One of his best-known works is the sculpture of David. This marble statue portrays the Biblical King David. The Last Supper
"The Last Supper" is a mural painting in Milan. It was created by Leonardo da Vinci for his patron, Duke Ludvicio Sforza, in the 15th century. This painting represents a scene from the final days of Jesus as told in the Gospel of John. In this scene Jesus announces that one of his Twelve Apostles would betray him. This is the "Mona Lisa" a very famous painting made by Leonardo da Vinci. It is believed to be of a 24 year old merchant's wife named Mona Lisa del Gioconda. D a Vinci began this painting in 1503 and completed it in 1507. It was painted onto poplar wood. Although it was made for a merchant, da Vinci never sold his creation. In August of 1911, the "Mona Lisa" was stolen but thankfully recovered.
